The 'Wind Kids'
When local high school teacher Andy Swapp and his students set up their first met tower and started measuring the wind resource in Milford, they had no idea they were paving the way for a 200MW wind farm, but thats what happened! Watch the story of how the 'Wind Kids' helped bring a major wind project and all the benefits of wind power to their town revitalizing the local economy and providing power to tens of thousands of households in Southern California.

Andy Swapp is a wonderful mentor and community leader. He was and is my inspiration. I've visited his classroom and met some of the wind kids. May he continue to guide kids of all ages!

I really don't know the total number of turbines that were erected for
ReplyDeletethis project. I found the scope of this endeavor to be outstanding
when looking at the humble beginnings of the thought of one farmer to
erect a small turbine to help power his farm and what this eventually
grew into! What an amazing effort by these kids as well as an
invaluable learning experience which will hopefully, lead to gainful
and long-term employment opportunities for the area. Along with the
economic factor from this project is first and foremost with me
personally, the positive impact derived from obtaining the sustainable
energy source!
